Sample Itinerary 1

An ideal holiday duration is 10 - 21 days. Destination: South Africa only.
(Additional nights in Botswana and Zambia • Victoria Falls)

Day 1: Arrive at Cape Town International airport where you will be met by your personal guide, transfer to one of the numerous upmarket hotels or guest houses. Spend the afternoon relaxing. Dinner at a traditional Cape Restaurant.

Day 2: An early morning helicopter flip offers spectacular photographic opportunities of this impressive coastline. Take a trip up Table Mountain and enjoy the many lovely walking paths looking down on Cape Town and the surrounding coast. Spend the rest of today exploring the wonderful city of Cape Town and its many markets. A leisurely lunch at the famous Victoria & Alfred Waterfront. Your guide will show you the highlights. To end your day take a romantic boat cruise out the harbour and watch the sunset of the Atlantic Ocean.

Day 3: After breakfast embark on a scenic drive around the Cape Peninsular to Cape Point, stopping at interesting places and Nature reserves along the way. Visit the penguin colony and seal island. For those interested a trip to the Botanical Gardens is a must. Lunch at a seafood restaurant. Returning to your hotel in the late afternoon.

Day 4: Bid the City of Cape Town farewell. Your guide will escort you along the scenic wine route to beautiful wine estates. Overnight at an exquisite guest house or hotel in the winelands. Even for non wine enthusiasts this is a worthwhile tour as the scenery is outstanding.

Days 5-6: Fly from Cape Town to Durban. You will be met and escorted through the dramatic countryside of the Natal Midlands to the heart of the Zulu Battlefields - a combination of Zulu Culture, wildlife and luxury accommodation in Traditional style.

Day 7: We leave this historic area and head into the heart of the Drakensberg. Enjoy a picnic lunch in the country or at one of the many colonial pubs. Overnight at one of the quaint country hotels.

Day 8: After an early breakfast embark on a dramatic 4x4 trip up Sani Pass, one of the most spectacular mountain passes providing access to the Mountain Kingdom of Lesotho. The road snakes upwards beneath towering cliffs, past tumbling waterfalls, colourful plants and unique birdlife. Savour a picnic lunch at the summit with the world at your feet.

Day 9: Take a walk in the country side or a few hours trout fishing before embarking on a leisurely sightseeing drive back to Durban airport. Connect with your flight to Johannesburg (1 hour) where our chauffeur service will transfer you to one of our highly reputable hotels or guest houses in a quiet suburb of Johannesburg. Days 10-13: Transfer to Johannesburg airport for your flight to one of the Game Reserves. You will be met by a dedicated ranger who will see to your every need. Enjoy the game drives in this huge expanse of African Bush on the boarder of the world famous Kruger National Park • This is home to the Big 5. Evening game drives and sundowners watching the African sunset is a time never to be forgotten.


Day 14: Having participated in your early morning game drive followed by a sumptuous breakfast it is time to bid this wonderful Reserve farewell and return to Johannesburg airport where you will connect with your flight home.

Sample Itinerary 2

Day 1:

Land at Cape Town International airport from the USA.  You will be met at the airport by your personal guide.  

He will transfer you to a very relaxed and comfortable guest house.  Please bear in mind there is a 9 hour jet lag so your day will be programmed in accordance with your level of fatigue. 

Overnight on a fully inclusive basis including activities.  Excluding drinks.  Meals are based on a light lunch, and dinner being 1 starter, 1 main course and 1 desert.  If you prefer your main meal at midday this can be arranged.   

Day  2:

Today you can spend your time exploring the Cape Peninsular.  The tip of Africa

enjoy a breathtaking journey along one of the world’s most spectacular coast lines with it’s imposing and majestic mountains, clad in fascinating and unique vegetation to the most south-westerly tip of Africa which was first navigated by the Portuguese explorers during the 15th centaury in search of new trade route to the Far East.

Pristine beaches, sheltered bays and secluded coves encircle the majestic might of Table Mountain, a World Heritage Site and home of some 8500 species of flowers.  Your travels take you around the famous Chapmans Peak via Hout Bay and the endless, white expanse of Noordhoek’s Long beach.  The road hugs the mountainside snaking past Fish Hoek, a popular family beach, the lovely fishing. 

A trip to the African Penguin Colony is extremely interesting. 

The Cape Peninsular’s dramatic topography and Mediterranean-like climate has produced an enormous array of habitats which allow the park to offer an incredibly rich variety of plants, bird and animal species.   

Have lunch at the Peninsular.  Situated in idyllic surroundings overlooking this lovely landscape and the mighty oceans beyond.  

Returning to Cape Town in the afternoon - relax before dinner.

Day 3:

Weather permitting we will go up Table Mountain.  Enjoy the view and the different foliage. 

Table Mountain is a world heritage site and is a world famous landmark at 3563ft above sea level.  The Mountain is covered by more than half of the Peninsula’s 2600 species of indigenous plants and flowers  It is an unforgettable sight.  The six minute cable way ride to the summit offers visitors panoramic views of ocean, beaches, city and mountain.  At the top there are several easy walks. 

Having enjoyed your trip up Table Mountain continue your trip to the Botanical

gardens.  This is one of the world’s great botanical institutions and lies in the long shadows of the eastern slopes of Table Mountain, its 560 ha is filled with over 9 000 species of trees and plants with numerous lovely walks.

Day 4:

After breakfast Graham will take you to the winelands area of Stellenbosch and Franschhoek.   

WINELANDS

Forty minutes from Cape Town the winelands are a haven of gracious, white gabled farmsteads evoking a rich, elegant heritage, set in verdant valleys beneath the soaring Boland Mountains’ forested slopes.  No trip to the Cape is complete without a tour of the wine route.  Nothing compares to sampling, firsthand, the results of a deep-seated commitment to excellence in cookery, art, sport and culture.  The legacies of the early wine makers are evident in the winelands’ leafy towns and , more especially, the graceful homesteads of the area, where gables bear testimony to 18th century origins. 

Enjoy your day exploring this extremely beautiful area.  Lunch will be at one of the small cafes or vineyards along the way. 

Overnight at a lovely guest house in Stellenbosch - fully inclusive. Excluding drinks. 

Day 5:

Today we will commence our trip to the Garden Route.  Driving.  Swellendam which is the way we would be going to Oudtshoorn.  Along this route you will have opportunity to see Proteas growing, the architecture and the scenery. 

Swellendam the third oldest landdrost district in South Africa.  It is 254 years old.  This charming town, with its near perfect setting at the foot of the Langeberg Mountains, is famous for its youngberries and also for its eclectic architecture, fascinating past and great outdoor life.  With its oak lined streets and Cape Dutch buildings Swellendam is one of the most beautiful towns in the country.

Day 6:

After breakfast continue the very scenic drive through the Ostrich farm area and see the Cango Caves.  Stopping along the way for photos and lunch.   Having enjoyed these activities we will continue the short drive to Knysna. 

Overnight on a fully inclusive basis at a lovely lodge situated right on the beautiful Knysna Lagoon.  Drinks excluded.. 

Day 7:

Knysna is a nice little artists paradise it is also a very nice area from which many interesting activities can be conducted.

A trip over the lagoon to Featherbed bay is a nice half day outing with excellent views and opportunity to see different species of fynbos vegetation.  Enjoy the short  walk down to the jetty where you will enjoy lunch. 

In the afternoon depending on how you feel and your interests (we are totally flexible on your interests and will accommodate your activities accordingly.  The activities will be discussed the day or two prior and booked accordingly).   You may like to take a short trip to the Knysna Elephant sanctuary or monkey land.  Both nice experiences. 

Overnight in Knysna on a fully inclusive basis.  Drinks excluded. 

Day 8:

Today we leave Knysna and drive through the Tsitsikamma Forest stopping and taking a walk into the forest to see one of the biggest yellow wood trees in the area.  Lunch will be had at Storms River Mouth.  This is an extremely spectacular area and you may have the rare opportunity of seeing the Cape Clawless otter 

Overnight in the middle of the Tsitsikamma forest on a fully inclusive basis excluding drinks 

Day 9:

Today we leave this area and drive up to Port Elizabeth where you will connect with your flight to Johannesburg.  Upon landing in Johannesburg you will be transferred to your hotel or a comfortable guest house in a good suburb were you will relax for the rest of the afternoon and enjoy dinner. 

Overnight on a fully inclusive basis excluding drinks.

(The reason you have to spend this night in the Johannesburg is because of flight schedules) 

Day 10:

Transfer you am to Johannesburg airport where he will assist you onto your flight to Maun Botswana.   

Upon landing in Maun you will immediately embark on a charter flight which will transfer you to your first Delta Camp.  Kwara camp.

Here you will spend 2 nights on a fully inclusive basis.  All accommodation, all drinks, all meals, all laundry, all activities, all charter flights between camps.

Days 10, 11:

Enjoy your time at Kwara camp.  Participate in the water cruise activities, game drives in the morning, evenings, night drives, walks.  All accommodation, all drinks, all meals, all laundry, all activities, all charter flights between camps. 

Day 12: 

Today you will fly to your second camp – Lebala or Lagoon camp-  in Botswana situated further north on the Linyanti plains.

Here you will spend 3 nights. All accommodation, all drinks, all meals, all laundry, all activities, all charter flights between camps.

Day 12, 13 and Day 14:

Enjoy your time at Lebala or Lagoon camp.  Participate in all the game activities, walks and drives. All accommodation, all drinks, all meals, all laundry, all activities, all charter flights between camps. 

Day 16

Today you will transfer to Kasane where you will clear Customs and continue to Livingstone in Zambia and the Victoria Falls. 

Here you will stay at Songwe Village where you will experience the wonderful Zambian hospitality, culture and countryside. 

You will be taken to the Victoria Falls where you will walk along the paths along the edge of the falls shrouded in mist and wonderful rainbows.   

While you are staying at Songwe for the next  2 nights you will also meet the chief of the village and be taken through the village.   

In the evening you will experience an evening of Zambian song and on the second evening you will be treated to a wonderful sundowner cruise down the mighty Zambezi .
